As part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, the Barbers Point Naval Air Station was closed and is being redeveloped as a new community called Kalaeloa. Part of this redevelopment includes the Warrior Ohana Medical, a one-story primary care clinic. Coffman provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering to refresh the abandoned building with a new canopy, lighting, and a solar hot water system more fitting for this growing community.
In addition to power and lighting, Coffman worked closely with the telecom service providers to coordinate data, IP, CATV, and the nurse call. The clinic is approximately 13,263 square feet and began serving the community in September 2011.
