Clients like "firsts." Coffman made sure the first new chapel built for the Air Force nationwide in over 30 years was impressive. Coffman designed a unique structural shape including curved CMU walls with a sloping roof culminating in a dramatic prow front with a 25 foot high window wall. The Air Force received two awards for the overall project and a welcoming space for its patrons and staff to reflect.

The Eielson Chapel  received two awards : Pacific Air Forces Design Award in the Concept Design Category and an AIA Alaska Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture.
