Travis AFB Dorm Renovation Phase II
Coffman is providing structural, civil, mechanical/plumbing, electrical, and fire protection engineering and project management services for the design-build renovation of an existing 25,000 sf dormitory at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California. Primary facilities consist of 36 “Dorms-4-Airmen” modules accommodating 144 persons, a common area building, and a mechanical/electrical central plant.
The project scope involves performing an ASCE 41 Tier 1 and Tier 2 evaluation of the existing lateral system of the building to determine if there are any deficiencies that require retrofit. The seismic retrofit of the building includes adds shotcrete walls to existing concrete and CMU shear walls. The project also consists of a 100% gut and replacement of the electrical, fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, ceiling, lighting and electrical fixtures, partitions, and other building systems for which Coffman is developing the engineering design. Coffman’s structural team is designing support and anchorage for the new mechanical and electrical equipment as needed, such as concrete pads and conduit supports.
