In 2009, Spokane voters passed a $332 million bond project to renovate and modernize schools in the Spokane School District. Hutton Elementary is one of the several elementary schools Coffman provided services for. The school received upgrades to its electrical, HVAC, and utility systems while preserving the historical features of the building. The updates better suit the students and faculty all while keeping the classic design of the school which is now on the Spokane Register of Historic Places.

Coffman provided services for the 60,000 sf educational facility which included 14,000 sf of renovation and 46,000 sf of new construction. Mechanical design included boilers, water cooling, and air handling units. Civil work included design for new drop-off lanes, parking, walkways, playground areas, a grass playfield, multiple big toy areas, and utility lines. Electrical engineering included updating the electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, intercom/clock, sound reinforcement, and classroom audio-video.
