Opportunity Elementary School in Spokane, Washington was one of eight projects approved in the Central Valley School District in 2015. The expansion projects have allowed the district to increase enrollment, add more teachers, and reduce class sizes. Coffman is proud of our relationship with the Central Valley School District and has provided services for several other projects, including Sunrise Elementary. We look forward to working with the school administrators on new bond projects and continuing to improve learning environments for students and educators.
Coffman provided electrical engineering and design services for 43,000 sf of renovated space and 28,000 sf of new expansion space for the existing, 34-year old school. Construction cost was $15 million. The existing building’s electrical systems were completely replaced with new modern equipment including electrical panels and distribution, energy-efficient LED lighting, telephone/data, classroom audio-visual, fire alarm, security and intercom. A challenge on the project was phasing the work to be minimally disruptive to staff and students occupying the building during construction.
