Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Plaza Tower

Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital is a 556-bed regional hospital and leading healthcare center serving the residents in Whittier, California. Coffman provided structural engineering, electrical engineering, and construction administration for the six-story, 237,750 sf, surgical tower, five-story link building, and two-story parking garage. The tower added 11 surgical suites, six lower-level cath labs, two ICU floors, and two floors of med/surg beds, increasing the total number of beds from 444 to 556.

When it comes to seismic engineering, the Coffman team provided structurally sound solutions to meet state earthquake standards and used specialized moment resisting frame and foundation design for a structurally sound hospital that will serve the community for years to come.
