The ironworkers and painters that preserve the Golden Gate Bridge face strong winds, sea air, and fog, all while being suspended 220 feet above the water. When you’re working in that kind of environment, safety becomes that much more important. Coffman Engineers is designing a traveler system that will allow maintenance to reach different areas underneath the bridge and perform their work in a safe and efficient manner.
Coffman is performing design and engineering services associated with the maintenance travelers for the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District. This project consists of furnishing, testing and installing a Maintenance Traveler System. The system consists of four sets of travelers. Each set contains one Interior Traveler, one Bottom Traveler, one East Side Traveler, and one West Side Traveler. The design scope includes ancillary structural systems and full mechanical and electrical design.
